Belarus lose to Portugal in U21 EURO qualifying

MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) – Belarus lost 0-3 to Portugal in the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification on 12 November, BelTA has learned.

Portugal scored twice in the first half and added one more in the second. In the first round Belarus lost 0-2 to Portugal.

The Belarusian footballers will next travel to Almere to wrap up the qualifying stage against the Netherlands on 15 November. The match against Norway was scheduled for 18 November, but it was canceled due to the epidemiological situation. The same reason is behind the cancellation of the match between Gibraltar and Norway on 14 November.

Group 7 standings are as follows: the Netherlands – 24 points (8 matches played), Portugal – 21 (8), Norway – 10 (8), Belarus – 8 (8), Cyprus – 7 (8), Gibraltar – 0 (8).

Winners of the nine qualifying groups and five best runners-up will advance to the final stage of the tournament. The final tournament will be played in Hungary and Slovenia. The group stage is scheduled for 24-31 March 2021, the playoffs – 31 May-6 June 2021.
