MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) - Belarus is a good venue for major international tournaments, head coach of the Ukrainian judo team Vitaly Dubrova said in an interview with BelTA on the sidelines of the judo tournament at the 2nd European Games in Minsk.
“Our team is satisfied with the organization of the tournament. Competition is very strong. Belarus can bid to host world and European championships in the future. It is a good venue for international tournaments. If we talk about judo, Chizhovka Arena has a lovely hall, a good warm-up area,” Vitaly Dubrova noted.
The head coach said that he often visits Belarus, in particular the Staiki training center and every time he is impressed and pleased with the hospitality of Belarusians.
Commenting on the performance of the Ukrainian judo team Vitaly Dubrova said that he has mixed feelings. “Team leaders Daria Bilodid and Georgii Zantaraia won gold medals. But we expected better results from other team members. I would like one or two more medal,” he noted.
With regard to the Belarusian judo team, Maryna Slutskaya won a gold (+78kg) for the Belarusian team. Daniel Mukete (100kg) placed fifth which was the best result for Belarus men's judo team.
