Belarus go one position down in IIHF rankings

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has published its annual rankings of national teams following the end of the 2021 IIHF World Championship in Riga, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation.

Belarus went one spot down to place 14th.

Canada top the chart with a total of 3,235 points. Silver medallist Finland (3,125) overtook Russia (3,050) for second place. Sweden (2,880) lost three positions to move down to 7th. The United States and Germany both went up two spots and come in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Belarus will next play Slovakia, Austria and Poland as part of the 2022 Olympic qualification tournament in Bratislava on 26-29 August.
