MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 83 Egor Gerasimov has advanced into the quarterfinal of the 2020 Astana Open in Nur-Sultan, BelTA has learned.
In the round of Last 16 Egor Gerasimov battled through world number 66 Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in an hour and 50 minutes.
The Belarusian defeated world number 80 Lloyd Harris of South Africa 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) in the opener.
In the quarterfinal Egor Gerasimov will face U.S. world number 64 Frances Tiafoe.
In the doubles opener Belarus' Andrei Vasilevski and Israel's Jonathan Erlich will play the Egyptian-Kazakh tandem of Mohamed Safwat and Denis Yevseyev.
The tournament in Nur-Sultan will be over on 1 November.
