Belarus defeat Norway in FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup qualification

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Belarus secured the second win in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup qualification in Nazare, Portugal, BelTA has learned.

In Group C Belarus routed Norway 9-2.

On 21 June Belarus took a solid win over Poland, 8-2. Two victories secured a playoff spot for the team. On 23 June Belarus will take on Spain to complete the first round. Spain blanked Norway 8-0 and is expected to face Poland on 22 June.

Group A features Portugal, Ukraine, Turkey and Kazakhstan; Group B – Italy, Germany, Denmark, Romania; Group D – Switzerland, France, Estonia, Azerbaijan.

Two best teams from each quartet will advance to the quarterfinal and continue their run for the spots in the final. The European qualification has four spots for grabs. The final will feature 16 teams competing in Moscow on 19-29 August.

Belarus reached the final only once. In 2019 Belarus failed to reach the playoff placing third in the preliminary group.

Last week Belarus also reached the Euro Beach Soccer League superfinal in Nazare. In Group c Belarus routed Turkey 8-2 and lost to Spain 3-6 and Russia 3-5. The Euro Beach Soccer League superfinal will take place in Figueira da Foz, Portugal on 9-12 September. The event will also feature Poland, Ukraine, Switzreland, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Russia.
