Belarus' crew victorious at 2019 Morocco Desert Challenge

MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) - Siarhei Viazovich's MAZ of Belarus Team topped the 2019 Morocco Desert Challenge truck standings, BelTA learned from MAZ-SPORTavto.

The final stage was a speed track. Aliaksei Vishneuski's crew finished fourth, seven minutes behind winner of Stage 8, Gert Huzink of the Netherlands. Siarhei Viazovich's MAZ came in eighth, 13 minutes back.

Second in the overall standings was Peter Versluis of the Netherlands, 22 minutes back. Aliaksei Vishneuski placed third, 25 minutes behind the leader.

“It is always great to win, especially when you compete with such serious rivals. The race was very difficult and interesting. We will bring home not only the champion title but also rich experience which we will be able to apply in any rally,” Siarhei Viazovich said.

He also noted that MAZ trucks once again proved to be the most reliable and everlasting vehicles. “The performance of the Belarusian truck at the rally will help enhance the image of the Minsk Automobile Plant,” he added.

Morocco Desert Challenge took place on 12-20 April. The route comprised eight stages with the total length of about 2,700km.
