Belarus' best track and field athletes 2018 awarded in Minsk

MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) – The Belarus Athletic Federation has reviewed performance in 2018 and presented the Athletics prize to its best athletes. The awards ceremony took place in Minsk on 8 January, BelTA has learned.

Athlete-instructor of the national athletics team Volha Mazuronak (marathon) and Maksim Nedasekau (high jump) were named the best track and field athletes of 2018. Volha Mazuronak noted that it is incredibly heartening when athletic achievements are recognized and appreciated.

Olympic champions Tatyana Ledovskaya and Ellina Zvereva received the badge of honor For Merits.

Awards were also presented to the best athletes and coaches in the junior categories, as well as to the best judges of the season. Best athletics-themed photos of the year were chosen in a special voting.

The women's team who took part in the Marathon Cup at the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin was named Belarus' best team.

“This was the most successful season for Belarusian athletics. It is important that our athletes have grown more confident. The competition is getting tougher; however our athletes keep winning medals. This ceremony is designed to demonstration recognition of their efforts and achievements. Such events are important and much-needed,” Chairman of the Belarus Athletic Federation Vadim Devyatovsky said.

The ceremony was held for the fifth time.
