Belarus beat Switzerland at 2021 Ice Hockey U18 World Championship

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) - Danila Klimovich scored three power-play goals to lead Belarus to a 7-1 win over Switzerland at the 2021 Ice Hockey U18 World Championship in Plano on 28 April, BelTA has learned.

The game started off in Switzerland's favor, but the Swiss team were unable to create many scoring chances for their efforts. It was Danila Klimovich who opened the scoring 13 minutes into the game.

Dmitry Kuzmin made it 2-0 early in the second with a beautiful lacrosse goal.

The Swiss responded through Livio Truog, who went in alone and beat Tikhon Chaika to make it 2-1.

Danila Klimovich secured a hat-trick before the end of the second period.

Daniil Sotishvili snapped home another for Belarus and Ivan Anoshko made it 6-1 on a penalty shot. Daniil Sotishvili finished the scoring with a short-handed marker with less than two minutes to go.

Vladislav Shilo secured three assists, Egor Klavdiyev – two. Belarusian goalie Tikhon Chaika made 28 saves.

Both teams now have a day off and will resume play on 30 April. Belarus will be in action against Latvia, while the Swiss will play Sweden.
