MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) - The Belarusian national football team complete the season 97th in the recently published rankings of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), BelTA has learned.
Since the previous rankings publication (6 October) the Belarusian team held two friendlies at the training camp in the United Arab Emirates. In the first of them Georgy Kondratiev's men edged Syria 1-0 and completed the season with a 0-2 defeat to Oman. Now Belarus goes with 1221.68 points. In the outgoing year Belarus had ten games: three victories, four defeated and three played in a draw. Belarus' best position in the FIFA was 36th in February 2011.
In March 2023 Belarus will take part in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying. Belarus' rivals in qualifying Group I hold the following positions in the world's rankings: Switzerland – 12th, Romania – 52nd, Israel – 76th, and Kosovo – 107th.
The FIFA's December rankings are topped by Brazil. Argentina, the FIFA World Cup champion, has moved up to the second spot. France, the FIFA world Cup silver medalist, is third. Morocco, who lost the bronze medal game to Croatia, has jumped from 22nd spot to 11th position.

Belarus (1443.08) ranks 56th in the women's teams rankings. The USA team tops the rankings with 2057.9 points, followed by Germany (2073.73) and Sweden in third place (2057.9). The women's FIFA rankings, the first one in 2023, is to be published on 24 March.
