Belarus 2nd at European Athletics Team Championships in Norway

MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – Belarus placed second at the 2019 European Athletics Team Championships First League in Sandnes, Norway, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Athletics Federation.

Belarus was victorious in the men's 110m Hurdles (Vitali Parakhonka, 13.73 seconds), 1,500m (Daryia Barysevich, 4:50.60), shot put (Aliona Dubitskaya, 18.78m), javelin throw (Tatsiana Khaladovich, 61.17m), long jump (Nastassia Mironchyk-Ivanova, 6.76m), high jump (Karyna Taranda, 1.92m) and pole jump (Iryna Zhuk, 4.56m).

Second were Elvira Herman (Women's 100m Hurdles, 13.15 seconds) and Krystsina Tsimanouskaya (200m, 23.81 seconds).

The Belarusian team scored a total of 281 points to place second. Portugal won the event with the total of 302 points to grab the sole Super League promotion place.

Poland clinched the team title with 345 points at the European Athletics Team Championships Super League in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Second was Germany (317.5). France placed third (316.5).

Belarusian athletes will next take part in the Match Europe v USA which is due at Dinamo Stadium in Minsk on 9-10 September, and will later compete at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar on 27 September-6 October.
