MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian women's basketball team placed 15th at the FIBA U20 European Championship that took place in the Czech Republic, BelTA has learned.
In the final match Belarus saw off Germany, who is also in relegation, 65-45. Portugal was the third team to relegate, losing 56-60 to the Netherlands for 13th place.
Italy took the gold edging Russia 70-67. France earned bronze defeating Belgium 50-34.
At the FIBA U16 European Championship Division B in Podgorica, Montenegro Belarus will play Ukraine after suffering three defeats in Group Phase C: 51-71 to Montenegro, 77-83 to Denmark and 69-76 to Iceland.
The overall standings are as follows: Denmark – 6 points, Montenegro – 6, Iceland – 5, Ukraine – 4, Switzerland – 3, Belarus -3.
