Baltic Handball League finishes season ahead of time

MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – The Baltic Handball League (BHL) has decided to finish the 2019-2020 season ahead of time due to the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak, BelTA has learned.

On 6 April, the Board of Baltic Handball League thoroughly analyzed all aspects of the COVID-19 virus spread and its impact on the countries involved in the BHL. The board also discussed the situation with all participating clubs and decided to finish the season with no final standings and no winners or medallists determined.

In its official statement, the BHL thanked all participating clubs, supporters of handball, media and partners for their great effort and input. HC SKA Minsk won preliminary group A, scoring a total of 16 points in ten matches (seven wins, two draws and one defeat) and making it into the Final Four. Playing in the 2019-2020 season were 12 teams from Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Finland.

HC SKA Minsk were bronze medalists in the past three season of the Baltic Handball League. HC SKA Minsk also won the champion title in 2013-2015 and one silver in 2016.
