NUCLEAR POWER IN BELARUS AND WORLDWIDE
MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 58 Victoria Azarenka will play at the inaugural edition of the Top Seed Open presented by Bluegrass Orthopaedics in Lexington, BelTA has learned.
The event will also feature two former world number one players Serena Williams of the United States (No.9) and her sister Venus Williams (No.67), and also their fellow American Sloane Stephens (No.37). The tournament in Lexington which is due on 10-16 August, will be second post-pandemic event.
The women's tennis season will resume in Palermo, Italy on 3-9 August. The event will feature Belarus' number one Aryna Sabalenka, currently ranked 11th in the world, and also world number two Simona Halep of Romania.
In late summer the world's best tennis players will meet in New York for the Grand Slam event, the US Open slated for 31 August-13 September.
Male players will compete in Washington (14-21 August) and New York (22-28 August) before the US Open event.
