MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 61 Victoria Azarenka triumphed over Russia's world number 84 Vera Zvonareva 7-5, 6-4 to move into the second round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian will next face Czech world number four Karolina Pliskova for the place in the semifinal.
Belarus' Lidziya Marozava and Shuko Aoyama of Japan lost the women's doubles opener 2-6, 0-6 to the Georgian-Russian tandem of Oksana Kalashnikova and Anna Blinkova.
The tournament in Stuttgart will run through 28 April.
