Azarenka out of Cincinnati

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 40 Victoria Azarenka lost to Croatia's world number 26 Donna Vekic 2-6, 5-7 in the second round of the 2019 edition of the Western & Southern Open, BelTA has learned.

In the opener the Belarusian beat WTA World No.12 Belinda Bencic of Switzerland.

Donna Vekic will next play World No.65 Venus Williams of the United States.

Belarus' world number nine Aryna Sabalenka progressed into the third round after securing a confident win over China's world number 39 Zheng Saisai 6-4, 6-3. The Belarusian will next face Greece's world number 33 Maria Sakkari.

The competitions in Cincinnati will run through 18 August.
