MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – Belarusian Victoria Azarenka (No.58) lost to Jennifer Brady (48) 3-8 2-6 in her opening match at the Credit One Bank Invitational exhibition tournament in U.S. Charleston, BelTA has learned.
The match lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes. The Belarusian will face Danielle Collins (51) in the next match.
Victoria Azarenka and Madison Keys put up a fierce opposition in the doubles but still lost the battle to the American duo of Sofia Kenin and Bethanie Mattek-Sands 2-6, 6-1, 7-10.
The exhibition tournament in Charleston will finish on 28 June.
Earlier, the international tennis organizations (ITF, ATP, WTA) canceled all official competitions until August over the pandemic. The women's season is expected to resume on 3 August with a tournament in the Italian Palermo, the men's events are scheduled to restart on 14 August with the competition in Washington, D.C.
