MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 12 Aryna Sabalenka recorded the first win of the 2018 Hengqin Life WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai in style, moving past Ashleigh Barty of Australia, world number 19, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, BelTA has learned.
The match lasted for an hour and a half. On Friday, 2 November, Aryna Sabalenka will face France's world 18 Caroline Garcia.
In the woman's doubles event the Belarusian-Japanese tandem of Lidziya Marozava and Shuko Aoyama will open their Group A campaign against the Polish-Romanian duo of Alicja Rosolska and Mihaela Buzarnescu on 31 October.
