MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – FC BATE Borisov held a training practice at Emirates Stadium ahead of the second leg of the Europa League last 32 against Arsenal scheduled for 21 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the 15-time champion of Belarus.
BATE midfielder Alexander Hleb played for the Gunners in 2005-2008. In the first leg which ended with BATE's 1-0 victory, the experienced player spent almost an hour in action and will do his utmost to help his team in the second leg.
BATE head coach Aleksei Baga expressed hope for success in the coming game, adding that his men would give it their all. The head coach stated that when playing against such a strong rival as Arsenal, his men will focus on defense to maintain the minimal advantage they gained in Borisov. The winning goal was scored by Stanislav Dragun late in the first half. BATE Borisov are playing in the Europa League Last 32 for the third time and have never advanced further. They lost to Paris Saint-Germain F.C. in 2011, and Fenerbahce S.K. in 2013.
Arsenal head coach Unai Emery emphasized that the coming match against BATE is very important. After the first-leg defeat Arsenal should take revenge and make their fans happy with a good game and advancement to the round of Last 16. Unai Emery added that BATE would also try hard to progress and did not rule out that the teams would need to play extra time. This, however, will happen only if the match ends 1-0 to the favor of the hosts.
Spanish referees led by Alberto Undiano Mallenco will umpire the game in London. The match will start at 20h55 (Belarus time) and will be broadcast live on Belarus 5 TV channel.More about Sport
