About 400 journalists to cover European Figure Skating Championships in Minsk

MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) – About 400 journalists will cover the 111th ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Minsk, BelTA learned from the press service of the competition.

The bulk of journalists are from Russia. Russian figure skaters are favored to take medals in each of the four disciplines and Russian mass media outlets are actively preparing for the forthcoming tournament. Accreditation was also given to journalists from Germany, France, Italy, Japan, China, Spain, Great Britain, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

The first practice sessions got underway at Minsk Arena and the skating stadium. The audience will see many figure skating stars, including Pyeongchang Olympic champion Alina Zagitova of Russia and six-time European champion Javier Fernandez of Spain.

The tournament will begin at Minsk Arena with the short program in ladies and pair skating on 23 January. The opening ceremony will start at 18.00. The championships will be running in Minsk on 21-27 January.
