2021 IIHF Worlds: Belarus lose to UK

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – Belarus lost to the UK 3-4 in the group stage match of the 2021 IIHF World Championship in Riga, BelTA has learned.

Two goals from Liam Kirk led Britain to its first victory in this year's World Championship, and the country's first in regulation time at this level since 1962.

Belarus battled hard to come back from 1-4 midway through the third period but the Bison came up short as the UK secured a 4-3 win.

Vladislav Kodola, Geoff Platt, and Shane Prince scored for Belarus.

Ben Davies and Mike Hammond added to Britain's tally.

After four games played Belarus go sixth in Group A with four points. Slovakia top the chart with nine points after three games. Belarus will be back in action on 28 May against Denmark.
