Youth encouraged to run for Belarus' parliament in 2019

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Young people should take an active part in the upcoming parliamentary campaign, Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Kochanova told journalists following the meeting to discuss the forthcoming elections to the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly on 17 May, BelTA has learned.

“Today the youth is actively engaged in civic and political matters. They care about the future of the country. It will be wonderful if we have such young people in the parliament. This is a great opportunity for professional growth,” Natalya Kochanova said.

According to her, the BRSM Youth Union is considering possible candidates and will nominate its representatives to run for parliament.

The Belarus President Administration has been continuously working on attracting best talent. The personnel pool of the head of state lists over 800 posts. People from the special personnel pool of promising youth are also considered when new appointments are made. Some of them already work in government bodies.

“Personnel management is not easy. It should be consistent because candidates do not appear out of thin air,” Natalya Kochanova noted. “Achieving a high position requires going through certain stages. There are enough candidates, we just need to help them grow,” she added.
