Year of Science in Belarus summed up

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Vladimir Gusakov summed up the results of the Year of Science in Belarus at the Second Congress of Scientists on 13 December, BelTA has learned.

“In the Year of Science we have made progress in a number of scientific and technical areas. I will list a number of key advancements. We have developed a portable supercomputer that performs up to 20 trillion operations per second and is 2.5 times better the capacity of the original supercomputer SKIF. We have developed an electric vehicle model and a small personal electric transport model. The development of our energy storage unit is almost completed. We have worked out a DNA identification system that will facilitate the transition to personalized healthcare. Ancient Slavic artifacts have been founded. This list can be continued,” said Vladimir Gusakov. Among the achievements of the Belarusian science is also the construction of the Belarusian Antarctic station and the preparation of the doctrine on food security of Belarus.

More than 60 landmark events were held in the Year of Science. They included congresses, symposiums, international sci-tech conferences and exhibitions.
