MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – An interagency working group will be established for the sake of realizing the Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on a unified industrial policy. Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov made the statement at the 10th session of the interparliamentary commission on interregional cooperation of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia in Moscow, the Industry Ministry press service told BelTA.

Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, co-chairman of the interparliamentary commission Valery Belsky and Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Yuri Vorobyev took part in the session.

Aleksandr Yefimov reminded that in November 2021 the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia adopted a program on working out a unified industrial policy of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. In the course of preparing the document the sides bore in mind the need to create and stipulate legal conditions for approving and realizing joint actions in the sphere of the manufacturing sector. To that end two intergovernmental agreements of strategic importance for the manufacturing sector of the Union State of Belarus and Russia were prepared and signed: on acknowledging technological operations and on pursuing a unified industrial policy. Since then the Belarusian Industry Ministry and the Russian Industry and Trade Ministry have worked out a clear mechanism for realizing the signed agreements, which is done through interaction of the relevant working groups the sides are supposed to set up, the deputy industry minister said.

“In order to reach the goals stipulated by the Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on a unified industrial policy of February 2023 work is going on to set up an interagency working group and reconcile the organization of the group's session soon,” Aleksandr Yefimov clarified.

The main purpose of the agreements is to enable coordinated work of the Belarusian manufacturing sector and the Russian one. The implementation of the agreements will allow creating common industrial space and pooling together material and intellectual potentials of industrial enterprises, which is particularly handy amid sanctions of unfriendly countries.

The Belarusian deputy industry minister noted that manufacturing cooperation of industrial enterprises of the Union State of Belarus and Russia has a long-term nature, particularly in the field of machine tools production. “We see joint interaction within the framework of the signed agreements primarily as maximum involvement of Belarusian and Russian industrial enterprises in manufacturing cooperation processes for the sake of increasing import independence and ensuring technological sovereignty of the Union State, in the development of effective mechanisms for financing and realizing such manufacturing cooperation projects, their state support, and in the promotion of scientific and technical cooperation,” Aleksandr Yefimov summarized.
