Wen Yiduo's poems make part of Chinese poetry collection Luminous Signs

MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) – Poems by Wen Yiduo, an authentic Chinese writer of the 20th century, have been included in the 10th edition of the series “Luminous Signs: Poets of China”, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Information Ministry.

The anniversary edition of Chinese poetry translations into Belarusian has been published by the Zvyazda Publishing House. Wen Yiduo (born Wen Jiahua) headed the China Democratic League back in the days and was an active participant of China's youth movement. He was a great patriot, which is reflected in the subject and content of his works. Wen Yiduo represented the Crescent Moon art society, was fond of ancient poetry, books on poetry, and historical literature.

Wen Yiduo's poems have been translated into Belarusian by winner of Belarus' State Award Nikolai Metlitsky, Naum Galperovich, Tatyana Belous, Alexander Yemelyanov-Shilovich, Yulia Oleichenko, and Darya Nechiporuk. In the book, the translated poems are accompanied by their original Chinese versions.

The Luminous Signs series was initiated by the Belarusian Information Ministry in 2014. An international editorial council was set up to work on the series. Apart from Belarusian and Chinese translators, it comprises poets and translators from Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
