Wargaming scholarships for Belarusian State University students

MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) – Students of the Belarusian State University (BSU) may get scholarships from the game development company Wargaming, the university's press service told BelTA.

The scholarships are expected to stimulate and encourage young Belarusians to explore scientific research possibilities. Second-year and third-year students of four faculties – physics, chemistry, applied math and informatics, radio physics and computer technologies – will be able to apply for the scholarships initially. Candidates will have to demonstrate excellent academic grades, will have to prepare a motivational essay, and will have to be engaged in scientific research. A total of 16 scholarships or four per each faculty will be granted. Wargaming Company will present the final guidelines on the scholarships by late February.

If the pilot project is a success, the number of participants will be increased using other faculties of the Belarusian State University and other Belarusian universities.

The project's implementation was discussed in the Belarusian State University on 4 January. Belarusian First Deputy Education Minister Irina Starovoitova, BSU Rector Andrei Korol, and Wargaming Company Co-owner Vladimir Kisly took part in the meeting. Students also contributed to the discussion.
