MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) – Vehicle customs inspection and the analysis of a scanning image take no more than 10 minutes using a x-ray vehicle scanner, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
“Such technical means of customs control allow us to see whether there are illegally moved goods in the cargo compartments of vehicles. Customs inspection with full unloading and recalculating of goods takes much more time,” the committee said.
In the first quarter of 2020 Belarusian customs officers identified, using a vehicle inspection complex, about 350 violations to evade making customs payments in full. The goods were moved in caches or were not declared in shipping documents. The total value of the goods seized and the fines imposed was more than Br1.5 million.
“Such technical means of customs control have proved efficient. In the first quarter of 2020, Br1 spent on operating this vehicle inspection complex generated Br20 in revenue to the central budget,” the committee said.
