Ukrainians to need international passports to enter Belarus as from 1 September

MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – A new procedure will be used to allow citizens of Ukraine to enter Belarus starting 1 September, representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

The Ukrainian government's resolution on partially suspending the Belarusian-Ukrainian intergovernmental agreement on visa-free travels of citizens will come into force next month. National passports will be removed from the list of documents, which can be used to enter, leave, transit, and stay in Belarus. Ukrainians will be able to cross the Belarusian-Ukrainian border only using international passports as from 1 September.

The source clarified that Ukrainian citizens, who want to enter Belarus with national passports or ID cards, will not be allowed to cross the border.
