MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – The West will not be friends with Belarus, the West will control it, Ukrainian political analyst Ruslan Bortnik told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“I would say there is a fight for Belarus. There is an attempt to seize power from the inside with the help of mass demonstrations, rallies, and protests. Most likely, this is one of the forms of a color revolution. There is pressure on enterprises, workers to go on strikes. Belarus may quickly become one of the world's leaders in terms of economic downturn,” he said.
According to him, competitors are dreaming of squeezing Belarusian goods and services out of markets. “Look at Ukraine which is four times as big. It did not make friends with the West. It surrendered. This capitulation was in no way honorable. The West can only control the situation in Belarus, take advantage of it but it will not be friends with you. Both the West and Ukraine want to push Belarus out of these markets and substitute its products and services with their own. Because we will profit from this,” the analyst added.
