Turchin: Belarus aims to build 5m square meters of rental housing over five years

MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Belarus intends to build 5 million square meters of rental housing over the next five-year period, Belarus’ Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said as he presented for approval the program of social and economic bevelopment of the Republic of Belarus for 2026-2030 during the session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on 19 December, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Turchin emphasized that a high-quality and comfortable living environment means, above all, housing, roads, transport, and utilities. Resources will be directed toward the construction and renovation of rental housing. This decision will help attract personnel to the regions.
“We will build housing in locations where major industrial projects are planned, and for workers in the most in-demand positions, as well as young proffesionals. This will make the workforce flexible and mobile, allowing people to look for a home near their workplace rather than the other way around,” the prime minister said.

Aleksandr Turchin added that demand for rental housing among Belarusians is high.
