Tourism in focus of Brest 2019 forum

BREST, 22 March (BelTA) – The fourth edition of the international forum of business contacts Brest 2019 will take place in Brest on 11-12 April. One of the objectives of the forum is to increase awareness of tourism offerings of the districts of Brest Oblast, BelTA learned from head of the tourism sector of the sports and tourism department of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Denis Nikityuk.

Taking part in the event will be Belarusian and foreign companies, representatives of business communities and government agencies. They will be able to discuss investment matters, establish and expand long-term cooperation in the manufacturing industry, trade and services. The forum will be a showcase event for Brest Oblast economy and investment. Over 20 investment projects in the tourism industry will be presented. They include renovation of the former palace of the Radziwill family in Baranovichi District, restoration of a family homestead of Napoleon Orda in Ivanovo District, establishment of a SPA center in Brestagrozdravnitsa.

Each district will be able to showcase its tourism opportunities and attractions. Participants of the forum will see a presentation of Pinsk, Belarus' Capital of Culture in 2019, and the international culinary festival Motalskie Prysmaki. Pruzhany District will present its gastronomic tour, while Malorita District will promote its pilgrimage tourism. Baranovichi District is known as a native land of the famous poet Adam Mickiewicz. Beryoza District will focus on eco-tourism. The main draw of Ivatsevichi District is hunting tourism, while Kamenets District and Stolin District will try to lure tourists with boating and sailing trips.

“Our region is getting increasingly popular with tourists. Last year the tourism industry saw a 15% growth over 2017. We see more tourists coming from Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Sweden, Croatia, Czechia, the United Kingdom, Latvia and Italy. It is largely attributed to the visa waiver. Therefore, the forum will focus on new opportunities of the visa-free zone,” Denis Nikityuk said. Since the start of the year, the Brest visa-free zone welcomed over 4,000 visa-free tourists from 37 countries, up three times over the same period a year before.

According to Denis Nikityuk, invitations to take part in the forum were sent to many countries.
