MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) – The international festival of decorative art Textile Bouquet dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia will be running in Minsk from 27 March to 2 April, BelTA was informed in the National History Museum.
“The Belarusian-Russian project is designed to demonstrate various textiles and to promote the national traditions of textile arts, their integration into the socio-cultural landscape. “Nothing unites the Slavic peoples more than long-standing traditions of women's handicraft. Our people have long been known for patchwork, textile application and doll-making, old embroidery and weaving techniques. The art language of various cultures is understood by all. It brings us closer and unites. Ancestors of Belarusians and Russians intuitively chose colors, symbols, forms and purpose for both ceremonial and everyday household goods and clothing,” the museum said.
Today professional textile artists, craftsmen and amateur artists expertly interweave traditions into modern works of decorative and applied art. Every author has his own unique style and manner. Combination of traditional and modern materials makes works exclusive pieces of art.
The program of the festival will include exhibitions, master classes, fashion shows, meetings. The Museum of History of Theatrical and Musical Culture will host a patchwork exhibition from the holdings of the Polenov State Russian House of Folk Art. The Vladislav Golubok gallery will feature textile works by modern Yakut artists and the National Center for Contemporary Arts will exhibit textile works by Belarusian craftsmen. A big cultural and excursion program has been prepared for participants and guests of the festival.
The festival has been organized by the National History Museum, National Center for Contemporary Arts, House of Moscow, and the Polenov State Russian House of Folk Art.
