GOMEL, 26 May (BelTA) – Everything is being done for the single purpose: to allow Belarusians to be confident in the future, allow them to calmly raise kids and live in the native land. Belarusian Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Viktor Khrenin emphasized the point during the training session “Military security and defense of the Republic of Belarus” in Gomel, BelTA has learned.
According to Viktor Khrenin, taking into account the critical situation along Belarus' borders it is simply necessary to respond and enhance the country's defense. “The head of state wants the entire nation to contribute to defense efforts. Territorial defense helps achieve this goal. We have virtually completed the development of the bill on people's militia. We have arranged experiments in several rural areas and see that it produces a positive effect. People actively respond and are ready to participate in the defense of the Motherland,” the official remarked.

Viktor Khrenin stressed that territorial defense underpins efforts to ensure peace and tranquility in the country. “Everything we do we do for one thing only: so that our people would be confident in the future, could calmly raise kids, and live in the native land,” he assured.
Participants of the training session briefly summarized results achieved by territorial defense last year and determined new ways and directions of development for the future.
