MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – As part of the second stage of the joint aerial tactical exercise units belonging to the aviation component of the Belarus-Russia regional military force have started carrying out missions, the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

An early warning and control aircraft A-50 took off from the Machulishchi airfield to provide aerial reconnaissance and guidance to crews of multirole fighter aircraft.

Fighter aircraft operating from the Baranovichi airfield provide aerial cover to important state and military installations.

Aircraft based at the Lida airfield are busy practicing how to deal with hostile air defenses and carry out strikes against airfields and helicopter pads of the simulated enemy.

Search and rescue operations have been organized and are in progress for the sake of evacuating crews of aerial attack forces. Technicians on the ground are busy preparing aviation equipment for combat deployment.
