MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – Another Belavia flight brought Belarusian citizens from Moscow's Vnukovo airport on 23 March, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Russia.
“A total of 82 travelers have returned to Minsk. Among them were also citizens of Armenia, Ukraine and Lithuania. Travelers returned from Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, Cyprus, the Dominican Republic, and Germany,” the embassy said.
Diplomats of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia continue to work on returning the compatriots to their homeland. Emergency phone numbers of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia have been posted on a special page of its website.
All passengers were screened for temperature in the arrivals area of Minsk National Airport.
As BelTA has reported earlier, on 18 March, Russia closed borders to foreign nationals, including citizens of Belarus, over the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. Yet, it has allowed transit through Moscow airports Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo providing that citizens do not leave the transit zone and fly to Belarus within 24 hours. However, most Russian flights from the Asia-Pacific region arrive at Moscow's Vnukovo airport from which there are no direct flights to Minsk.
