Scheduled Air Force flights in progress to protect Belarusian border

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – Scheduled flights are taking place as part of the work to protect the state border in the air space, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

Pilots of the 50th combined airbase (An-26 aircraft), 116th assault airbase (Yak-130), and 61st fighter airbase (Su-30SM) are performing these flights. Pilots of the 116th assault airbase and the 50th combined airbase are expected to practice joint actions as pairs of aircraft.

Air defense missile units of the 19th and 120th independent mechanized brigades are getting ready for a tactical exercise that will involve live fire of air defense missile and cannon systems Tunguska and shoulder-fired air-defense weapons Igla. The units are being transported by rail. They are disembarking and concentrating in the 174th exercise area of the Air Force and Air Defense Command.

Units of the 11th independent mechanized brigade are practicing the driving of combat vehicles, tactical training in the Obuz-Lesnovsky exercise area. Units of the 6th independent mechanized brigade are focusing on tactical training in combination with physical training, technical training, and specialty training at their permanent stations and in the brigade's exercise area.
