Russia's Kaliningrad to join youth patriotic forum near Mound of Friendship in Belarus

MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – Young people from Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast will participate in the patriotic forum which will take place at the Mound of Friendship in Verkhnedvinsk District, First Secretary of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union Vyacheslav Khrol told reporters before the plenary session of the BRSM Vitebsk regional organization.

According to Vyacheslav Khrol, the regional patriotic forum at the Mound of Friendship is expected to become one of the hallmarks of Vitebsk Oblast in the future. Youth of Vitebsk Oblast of Belarus, and Russia's Pskov Oblast and Smolensk Oblast took part in the event last summer. “This forum is designed to help young people to remember about the feat of our people in the Great Patriotic War. Preparations for the next forum are already in full swing. In addition to young people from the Smolensk and Pskov organizations of the Russian Youth Union, we will also welcome youth from Kaliningrad Oblast this year. The number of participants is increasing, new ideas for the forum are emerging,” Vyacheslav Khrol said.

Vyacheslav Khrol also noted that last year more than 4,800 people were engaged in students summer work brigades. Young people worked both in Belarus and abroad. “The BRSM's Kind Heart volunteer movement continues to gain steam. In 2019, volunteers provided help to more than 4,500 people . Among them were disabled people, war and labor veterans, elderly people living alone, orphans, children with disabilities, large families, single-parent families in social risk situation," he added.

Assistant to the President and Vitebsk Oblast Inspector Anatoly Linevich wished the youth successful implementation of their ideas and urged them to be more active, including during the electoral campaign.

Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union unites 45,008 people.
