Russian police to help Belarus at 2nd European Games

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Russian police will help Belarus at the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus' Interior Minister Igor Shunevich told the media, BelTA has learned.

“Policemen of foreign states can act in Belarus only as experts. They will help maintain contact between Russian fans and Belarusian law enforcement bodies. They will provide information about troublemakers using the databanks of their ministry. The same is true regarding police representatives of other countries,” Igor Shunevich said.

The minister stressed that no foreign law enforcement bodies can carry out enforcement activities in Belarus. “They do not have such powers. They can be invited only as experts,” he repeated.

The minister did not specify other states that will provide Belarus assistance during the 2nd European Games. “There are no such lists. There are only plans to invite such representatives. These plans are based on the forecast of a number of fans and potential threats,” he said.
