Russian Academy of Sciences seeks closer cooperation with NASB

MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – The Russian Academy of Sciences hopes to expand cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Siberia Office of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Parmon told the media on 16 November, BelTA has learned.

“The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is implementing a series of projects as part of the Union State programs, including space-related ones. I hope that in the near future more tasks will be set up for joint implementation. There are proposals on the non-traditional use of mineral resources of Russia which is in the interests of the Russian and Belarusian industry. There are also areas for cooperation in the humanitarian sector,” Valentin Parmon said.

He stressed the importance of developing and strengthening the Inter-Academic Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in the development of the Union State. “For the first time in many years, the Inter-Academy Council has been invited to take an active participation in the development of joint fundamental and applied research in the interests of the Union State, and also to act as an expert on some projects," the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences added.

On 16 November Valentin Parmon took part in the celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The official ceremony included the awarding of the country's best scientists. An exhibition of scientific and technical achievements of scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus featured more than 300 new technologies. It includes seven clusters associated with priority research areas. The exhibition familiarizes with space, information, bio, and nanotechnology, new medications, and achievements of agricultural scientists. Minsk welcomed well-known scientists from the CIS countries, leading foreign academies of sciences, world research organizations and centers.
