Russia-Belarus Forum of Regions to highlight cooperation priorities

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) - The regional cooperation priorities will be in the spotlight of the Fifth Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus in Mogilev Oblast, BelTA learned from the press service of the upper house of the Belarusian Parliament.

Minsk will play host to the joint Belarusian-Russian meeting of the organizing committees for the Fifth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia on 15 February. The events of the forum will be held in Mogilev, Shklov and Gorki on 26-28 September. “The program of the forum includes a plenary session on the priorities for the development of regional cooperation as a key factor in integration and the Union State development”, break-out sessions on economic security, agricultural policy, harmonization of legislation, the youth policy of the Union State,” the press service of the Council of the Republic informed.

The interparliamentary commission on interregional cooperation of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia will hold a session during the forum. The Business Cooperation Council will bring together representatives of major companies of the two countries.

The events to be held ahead of the forum will include a week of integration and cooperation in Mogilev Oblast, the joint Belarusian-Russian plein air “The Image of the Motherland in Fine Arts”, an ice hockey tournament of the Union State spartakiade for children and youth, the youth forum of Belarus and Russia and other events.

The Belarusian organizing committee for the forum is headed by Vice Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Marianna Shchetkina. The Chairman of the Russian organizing committee is Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Yuri Vorobiev. He will head the Russian delegation at a meeting of the organizing committee in Minsk.
