Rostov-on-Don hosts Belarus-Russia Union State youth festival

MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – A delegation of the BRSM Youth Union is taking part in the 14th international festival Youth for the Union State in Russia's Rostov-on-Don, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union Oleg Dikun told BelTA.

“The Belarusian delegation consists of 100 people, including winners of competitions, active members of the union, and celebrities. The festival will kick off with a gala concert featuring Belarusian and Russian pop artists in the Maxim Gorky Academic Drama Theater on 23 September. The main event of the festival will be a song contest,” Oleg Dikun said.

“Events of the festival will take place in Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, and Novocherkassk of Russia. The festival will also feature a friendly football match which will bring together artists, youth activists, and representatives of the Rostov Oblast administration and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State,” Oleg Dikun noted.

The festival is designed to find and support talented youth, strengthen friendship between the youth of Belarus and Russia, spread the best ideas in the contemporary youth movement and bolster ties. It was first held in 2006 on the initiative of the Parliamentary Assembly. Since 2007, the event has been annually held in Russia' Rostov Oblast.

The 14th international festival Youth for the Union State in Rostov-on-Don will last through 27 September. It has been organized by the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State, the BRSM Youth Union, and the Youth Policy Committee of Rostov Oblast.
