MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Retirement pensions in Belarus should equal 40% of salaries by 2020, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the 5th Belarusian People's Congress on 22 June, BelTA has learned.
“In 2016-2020, we will be working to reform and enhance our pension system. To prevent pension cuts and maintain the regularity of pension payments, we had to increase the pension age. Our task is to ensure that a retirement pension equals 40% of a salary, which is the world's average,” the head of state noted.
He pointed out that it is necessary to create favorable conditions for people with disabilities. “This is an important task, and we should address it. Barrier-free environment will be created at more than 3,500 facilities in Belarus over the next five years,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
