Refugee children from Grodno shelter appeal to Germany in another rally

GRODNO, 10 December (BelTA) – Children and women living in the refugee shelter near Grodno have held another spontaneous rally asking Europe to help them, BelTA has learned.

Refugees have been stranded at the Belarus-Poland border for 33 days already. Now they are living in the temporary accommodation facility set up at the logistics hub near the Bruzgi checkpoint. There are many children among them. On 10 December children and women came out for another spontaneous rally with an appeal to Germany and the West.

‘Germany, help us', ‘No deportation', ‘No returning home' - read the posters held by the children. ‘Help us! Germany, help us', they chanted.

Several dozen children and women took part in the rally that started inside the shelter and continued on the street.

“Children see everything. They do not understand why Germany does not accept them. Many of us do not want to return home. We are simply not safe there. Children feel it and try to reach out to politicians in Europe,” one of the refugees said. The woman emphasized that as the cold weather is setting in, life is becoming more and more difficult for the refugees. “Things would have been worse if not for Belarus' help. The situation must be resolved as soon as possible,” she said.

By the way, a group of experienced child psychologists arrived at the refugee shelter on 10 December. They will provide psychological support to refugee children.
