Preparations for International Army Games 2021's Sniper Frontier contest in progress in Belarus

MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – Active preparations for the Sniper Frontier contest, which will be held as part of the International Army Games 2021, are in progress in the army exercise area Brestsky. It will be the fourth time for Belarus to welcome the best snipers of special units from 20 countries, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

According to the source, the Belarusian team has been training since early June. The best personnel from various army units had been selected for the team.

The team's coach Lieutenant Colonel Artyom Pavlov noted that the format of this year's contest is absolutely new. Unique target equipment will be used during the contest. It is designed to objectively evaluate shooters' skills and mark bullet hits on the target right away. All the exercises are based on the tactics snipers use in modern conflicts, he said.

Heat imaging sights will be used during shooting at night. Belarusian snipers will use ORSIS T-5000 sniper rifles during the contest. During the Interaction event they will use Makarov pistols.

During the Sniper Frontier contest the military personnel will have to demonstrate their skills solo and in pairs. Winners will be determined in the course of three stages: the individual one, the paired one, and the team one. A sniper duel and a sniper relay race will not affect the winning scores.

It will be the fourth Sniper Frontier contest in Belarus. Belarusian sharpshooters won gold medals three times in the past.
