MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – Preparations for the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2017 are about to enter the final phase, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry website.
Belarusian First Deputy Defense Minister, Chief of the General Staff, Major-General Oleg Belokonev will supervise the forthcoming exercise on behalf of Belarus. On 14 July Oleg Belokonev held a conference to find out results of the first stage of preparations for the forthcoming exercise.
Participants of the conference also discussed interaction with the Russian side during the forthcoming preliminary reconnaissance in detail. Oleg Belokonev elaborated on the tasks that need to be fulfilled to prepare troops and areas for the exercise. He remarked that preparations for the exercise are about to enter the final phase.
