MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – Polish authorities have decided to put a stop to the blockade of incoming traffic on approach to the border crossing Kukuryki (Kozlovichi on the Belarusian side of the border) due to serious problems for road traffic and the danger the strike of Polish truckers represents for local residents, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
Polish truckers have been blocking the road leading to the border crossing Kukuryki (Kozlovichi on the Belarusian side of the border) since 9 May. It is the only border crossing trucks can use to cross the Belarusian-Polish border. This night the Polish side started more promptly clearing the vehicles going from Poland to Belarus via the border crossing Kukuryki. Since 00:00 on 13 May the Belarusian customs service has cleared over 260 trucks going from Poland to Belarus via the border crossing Kozlovichi.
The Polish side clears 25 vehicles per hour on the average. “It corresponds to the level of performance the Polish side had demonstrated before Polish truckers went on strike,” the State Customs Committee said.
