Plans to discuss Brest-Volgograd tourist route at Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions

BREST, 16 July (BelTA) – Plans are in place to discuss the development of the tourist route Brest-Volgograd at the 6th Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus which opens in St. Petersburg on 16 July, BelTA learned from Nikolai Glushenya, the head of the sport and toruism department at the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.

Nikolai Glushenya, as a member of the Brest delegation, will participate in the plenary meeting and the thematic section with a report “Patriotic tourism as a promising area of cooperation between the regions of Russia and Belarus”. Nikolai Glushenya suggests popularizing the tourist patriotic route Brest-Volgograd.

“We have an exchange of small groups on this route but believe that the numbers can be higher. We offer the route: Volgograd-Moscow-Smolensk-Vitebsk-Orsha-Minsk-Brest-Pinsk-Gomel-Bryansk-Voronezh-Volgograd. This may be a train or several train cars. The route will be especially in demand in such iconic days like 9 May and 22 June. I think the issue can be solved within the framework of the Union State,” he said. According to him, 208,000 tourists visited Brest Oblast last year, of whom 65% were Russians.

The Brest Oblast delegation to the 6th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will be led by Brest Oblast Governor Anatoly Lis and will include senior officials of the regional administration, the regional council of deputies and also Baranovichi city council of deputes, and representatives of educational and cultural institutions. They will participate in the plenary session of the forum, thematic sections. Brest Oblast is set to sign agreements on cooperation in trade, economy, science and in social and cultural affairs with Russia's Voronezh Oblast and Stavropol Krai.
