Patrushev: Kiev regime uses terrorist methods to weaken Belarus, Russia

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - The Kiev regime uses terrorist methods to weaken Belarus and Russia, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said as he met with State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich in Minsk on 7 June, BelTA has learned.

"The continued crisis around Ukraine is not beneficial to anyone except the United States. Today, Washington has brought all of Europe to its knees, forcing it to submit. The goal is to maximize the benefits for its own economy by weakening the European Union, which could have become one of the centers of a multipolar world. Against this background, it is extremely important to consistently deepen integration ties within the framework of the Union State, the CSTO and the EAEU and to expand cooperation with friendly countries," Nikolai Patrushev said. In his opinion, this will make the response to new challenges and threats more effective.

Nikolai Patrushev noted that at today's consultations the Security Councils of Russia and Belarus had a thorough exchange of views on the main areas of Russian-Belarusian cooperation. Among other things, the parties talked about ways of ensuring information security and promising areas of military-technical cooperation. "I am confident that the results of today's meetings will contribute to the further expansion of practical cooperation between our countries in the field of security," the head of the Russian Security Council stressed.

In his opinion, the situation in Ukraine makes the Belarusian-Russian cooperation in defense vital. "The West continues pumping Ukraine with weapons, sharing satellite and other intelligence to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, planning military operations and sending mercenaries, in fact, being a party to the conflict. To achieve Washington's goal of weakening Russia and Belarus, the neo-Nazi Kiev regime is using openly terrorist methods of warfare. They are placing weapons and ammunition depots at social facilities and hazardous industrial enterprises. The shelling of residential areas of Russian regions does not stop," Nikolai Patrushev said.
