MOSCOW, 19 December (BelTA) - The Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State will increase control over 28 integration programs, which were approved by the Supreme State Council of the Union State in November 2021, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko told the media after the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 19 December, BelTA has learned.
“Time has shown that we cannot trust our so-called partners in the West and the United States in politics and trade. That is why our heads of state have chosen the only effective model of cooperation between Belarus and Russia. The results of the outgoing year indicate that our trade and economic cooperation has been developing successfully. Suffice it to say that by the end of this year mutual trade will reach a record-high of $44-45 billion,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.
The participants of the session reviewed the implementation of 28 integration programs, which were approved by the Supreme State Council of the Union State in November 2021. “Some 30% had been implemented by the end of the first half of the year. Today this figure has reached 60%,” said the chairman of the House of Representatives.
“We have to admit however that there are still some issues. Not everything is perfectly smooth in the Union State construction. There are deficiencies, miscalculations, and deadlines have not been met in some programs. Today we have agreed to tighten parliamentary control over the implementation of these programs,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.
The Union State MPs also adopted the Union State draft budget 2023. “First of all, we have decided to strengthen the requirements for the drafting and spending of the Union State budget. Four programs and 33 activities are scheduled for the next year. The budget will amount to RUB5.966 million,” Vladimir Andreichenko added.
