MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Belarus has allocated more than Br2.5 billion this year to support families with children, Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko said on the air of the ONT TV channel, BelTA informs.

According to him, the most important thing for a family is to give birth and raise happy children. “We spend more than Br2.5 billion on supporting families with children. Next year we plan to increase this amount to Br3.2 billion as the number of large families in our country is growing. This year, their number rose by 3,500,” Igor Petrishenko said.

As of 1 December, there were 121,000 families with many children in Belarus, the vice-premier specified.

“In fact, we spend about 3.5% of GDP or Br5 billion on various aspects of family support,” Igor Petrishenko emphasized.

Not all countries spend that much on family support. “We believe that we should make our people happy,” the deputy prime minister added.
