Over 6,000 Ukrainians enter Belarus in past month

MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – For the past moth, more than 6,000 citizens of Ukraine entered Belarus, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee.

Since 24 February, 4,090 citizens of Ukraine entered Belarus from the Ukrainian territory. Of them 1,872 passed in transit through Poland, 118 through Lithuania, and 17 through Latvia.

From 6.00 on 24 March to 6.00 on 25 March, 772 citizens of Ukraine arrived in Belarus: 542 from the territory of Ukraine, 217 people passed in transit through Poland, 12 through Lithuania and 1 - through Latvia.

“The Belarusian side provide Ukrainian citizens all the necessary assistance. Those who need are offered temporary accommodation.” the State Border Committee noted.

By the decision of the head of state, Belarus waived visas for foreign citizens entering from Ukraine to help them return to the place of permanent residence. The visa waiver will be in force until 15 April.

“Belarusian checkpoints are operating in a routine mode,” the State Border Committee said.
